Trapped In Liberty

This world I come from is said to be a free one;
The country I was born into was viewed as land where dreams come true;
This city I lived in told me I could reach for the sun.

The town I was raised in reassured me that this world is benevolent;
The school I learned from taught that no question is foolish;
The household I trusted told me that no one is truly malevolent.

This world regurgitates the same lies over and over and passes them on generation to goddamn generation.

In any house anyone can just as easily gut you as they can tuck you in bed;
In every school a kid is bullied and ridiculed for failing to understand;
For every good hearted soul in town there are ten that can paint you red.

Dreams are pursued to have only a handful accomplished; the rest are in ashes;
This land is governed by those who trade our vices for their own power.
And this world...well this world is full of fascists.
Another one of my old depressing poems. I know the lines 12 and 14 don't rhyme, but then again I don't care so there's that...
